A uniquely Zak's grilling rub! Made with our own house-pressed cocoa powder and a selection of spices that adds incredible depth of flavor to everything you grill or sauté. Great for sauces and marinades, too!
There is no added salt or sugar and only a touch of spice in our original rub, so you can use our grilling rub as it is, or customize it to your own preferences.
Take it up a notch with our SPICY BLEND, with Cobanero and Pailla Chilis added to complement the flavor profile of our Cocoa Grilling Rub.
You will receive one of each variety, Original and Spicy. Each tin is 100g (3.5 oz).
All ingredients are organic: House-pressed cocoa powder, paprika, ginger, mustard, cinnamon, fennel, ancho chili, garlic, onion.
Here are some of our favorite ways we use the rub:
New Bedford scallops - Sprinkle a light coating of Cocoa Grilling Rub on top of scallops. Sauté in a little olive oil, with the rub side up. Flip and finish with rub side down to sear the rub in. Serve rub side up. Optional: add a few flakes of fleur de sel (the rub has no salt or sugar).
For salmon, we go a bit heavier because it can handle more flavor and for shrimp we coat both sides and either grill kabobs or sauté. For chicken, we go heavy all around with the rub. It also is great on grilled veggies, lamb & beef.
